Stardust 3/4 day at Rosa

Posted On: Mar 25, 2016 at 01:10 AM

Well folks had to work for everything we put in the bags today. We got off the dock today with 27 eager anglers and headed across to Santa Rosa Island. We fished deep water today mostly 290-300 feet trying to avoid the effects of the large swell but the fish were reluctant to bite.

The weather started to deteriorate around 1230. The wind picked up to 15-17. knots and the swell steepened so we headed east with roughly 100 nice quality Rockfish on board. The afternoon was very scratchy however our group worked very well together and fished every stop throughout the day . We fished late and grinded out a nice day overall.

Today the double dropper loop with squid or Anchovie and a 12 oz. Torpedo sinker did the best . Most of the people fishing with jigs today had trouble getting down to the bottom in the current and swell. If you have multiple outfits with you always a good idea to have a dropper loop set up ready to go.

The 27 passengers today ended up with 78 Reds, 85 quality Coppers , 17 miscellaneous Rockfish and 16 Lingcod.

The Stardust is chartered tomorrow and Saturday. The Coral Sea is scheduled for 3/4 Day the next two days with room. Call Sea Landing at 805 963-3564 to hop on. See you soon .
