Coral Sea 3/4 day charter 7.20.19

Posted On: Jul 21, 2019 at 02:37 AM

Good afternoon, just heading on in from Santa Rosa Island, watching a few humpback whales along the way. Today we had a charter group and got off the dock a little earlier than 3/4-day, and so headed for a zone where there had been some squid to snag for bait, first thing. The overnight fleet had the seabass all rounded up and indeed, even getting there mid-morning we were able to put a couple on deck. One was short, while the other kept. Squid snagging was less than fantastic.
But the bigger rockfish and lings bit anyway and we ended up with big bags of nice quality reds, bocaccio and coppers mostly -- one stop shopping for limits plus 17 nice lings for our 13 guys. A quick look in shallow for whitefish netted us not many, but had us releasing lots of blues, so we packed it up.

The final score for 13 Anglers:
130 Rockfish
17 lingcod
4 ocean whitefish
1 sheephead
1 white seabass
and a pile of mackerel which made great strip bait.

We are 3/4 day fishing Tuesday-Thursday and we have an afternoon one/2 day trip on Friday! Please book reservations from the website or call the landing at 805-963-3564
