Stardust 1/2 day 5.1.19
May 1, 2019 1/2-day Merit
But first, you have to know, tomorrow we have a 3/4-day, tanks full of live 'dines, nice weather, less than 10 signed up so far, and WE ARE GOING! First 3/4-day I'm on that actually has open spots.
So, today we had just 8 anglers, plus Kuncle Russel fishing. Our first spot, we ended up anchoring until everyone had a limit of ocean whitefish. We got at least one keeper ling there, plus some rockfish in 155 feet of water, fishing the ddl and squid strips. (also had some big 'dine and a few anch in the tank to play with)
From there we went deeper, also on the hook, in 230 feet. We caught at least 3 nice lings there and added more rockfish including some nice reds. When that slowed, it was back into a bit shallower water looking for final rockfish, which we got. However, those whitefish went ballistic and we released a bunch, until we finally had to hang it up.
Six of the 8 kept fish and ended up taking home 60 whitefish, 38 rockfish, 5 lings and Kuncle nabbed a nice sand bass and a batch of the other stuff not included in the above numbers.
Lings were keeper to 26," reds, browns and coppers were 2 to 3 pounds, others were standard 1/2-day grade pound/1.5 pound.
We are a go 3/4 day fishing Thursday-Sunday!! JUST SHOW UP THURSDAY!! The Coral Sea has room on their overnight trip tonight. Book reservations for all our trips from the website or call 805-963-3564
